We have been offering Post Graduate Teaching Apprenticeships since September 2025.

For our first cohort in 25/26, we had 100% in-year retention and 100% completion.

Our PGTA offer is based on our highly successful ITT programme and it will be based on the Salaried ITT programme that we have run for many years. It will have the same evidence requirements and placement structure as the Salaried programme, which is a contrasting placement in the Spring 1 half-term.

 2027 - 2028 Post Graduate Teaching Apprenticeships

The training programme for the next PGTA cohort will commence in September 2027 with the recommendation for the award of QTS being made in July 2028.  The End-Point Assessment (EPA) will take place in July 2028 and is included in the processes for the recommendation for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

The salary funding rates are as follows:

Grants are paid on a per trainee basis. For 2026 to 2027 we are offering grants of:

£29,000 for chemistry, computing, mathematics and physics
£20,000 for design and technology and languages (including ancient languages)
£5,000 for biology and geography

The training fee is covered by the apprenticeship levy.
