Outstanding Initial Teacher Training for Primary  

Bromley Schools’ Collegiate, provides a comprehensive ITT programme to help prepare you for your future career as a Primary Teacher.


We are excited to announce our Primary Mathematics specialist pathway 

(UCAS code 38V4)


This programme will train you to teach the general Primary curriculum from reception to year 6 and you will be in school 4 days each week for the duration of your training working alongside qualified teachers.  In addition you will gain deeper training and support to teach Mathematics to a greater depth.

Your first placement will be from mid-September until Christmas and a contrasting placement from January to the first week in July.

This programme attracts a £6000 tax-free bursary if you have at least a B grade in A level Mathematics and you will receive an additional training package of 5 days to supplement your existing QTS programme.


On this programme you will gain Qualified Teacher Status along with a PGCE with 60 M level credits.



Partner Schools


We work with a large group of schools across Bromley and Lewisham to provide training placements and employed training places.  These vary in size and catchment area to provide a variety of experience during the two placements that all trainees undertake.


Our programme has been developed with input from local schools and Teaching School Alliances to ensure that your training will be directly applicable to the needs of employing schools, children and local communities.

Within Lewisham we also work specifically with:


  • Education Teaching Alliance Lewisham (ETAL)  
  • Eliot Bank and Gordonbrock Schools federation
  • ATLAS Teaching School Alliance


Within both boroughs, we also have a wide range of schools that work with us to provide training placements.


Entry Requirements

Check the entry requirements below before submitting your application. These include:

  • Graduates Will Be Considered With 2.2 Degree Classification or above
  • GCSE English, Maths, and Science Grade C (grade 4) or above
  • Pass the two Professional Skills Tests prior to the start of the course


Your Training Year

Following completion of your training year, you will be recommended for QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) to the DfE (Department of Education). During the preparation year, trainees:

  • Will Experience Two School Placements During Their Training Year
  • Will Be Assigned a Mentor
  • Attend a Weekly Central Training Programme
  • Have Access to Bromley Schools' Collegiate Gateway where you will upload evidence to your personal electronic portfolio
